An essential requirement to take the road as a pilot is the psycho-physical MEDICAL certificate by the Italian Medical Institute. There are two different classes of assessments in consideration of the type of license to be obtained (2nd class for individuals, 1st class for commercial and online).
Once in possession of medical qualification, the course to become an airline pilot can begin.
It consists of a theoretical part and a practical part in flight and on a flight simulator at a flight school certified or approved by ENAC.
In CANTOR AIR, flight school approved as IT.ATO.0004, the offered path is the MODULAR one, and gradually allows (step by step) the acquisition of qualifications and licenses, following the achievement of theoretical and practical exams with the ENAC Authority.
At the end of the course the student will be in possession of a CPL / IR commercial license with ATPL FROZEN theory, necessary to work as a pilot. Once hired in an airline, and achieved the experience of 1500 flight hours and passed an exam, the CPL license with THEORETICAL Frozen ATPL will "unlock" becoming an ATPL (full) license.
The minimum age to start the first module - Private Pilot License - is 16 yo, as long as the candidate turns 17 for the practical exam with ENAC Inspector. At 18 yo, , it will be possible to continue the path with the ATPL theory course and the subsequent steps, where the age of majority is required to take the exams.
It takes about 2 years to become a professional pilot. The ATPL course in CANTOR AIR has an indicative duration between 18 and 30 months, which varies according to the student's ability to successfully pass the exams and the weekly availability given to fly.
Each flight school varies its prices depending on several factors. Some of the factors that can affect this difference are due to the type of aircraft used, the quality of instructors, the number of flight hours included, the use or not of a flight simulator and the quality of the training offered.
Although the cost of becoming an airline pilot is not indifferent, to support young students who decide to undertake this path, ATO CANTOR AIR has undertaken a collaboration with BNL NL Gruppo BNP Paribas. Collaboration thanks to which the ATO students will have the opportunity to finance ATPL, CPL and Instructor courses through the BNL FUTURIAMO loan. Find out more about financing the course!
REQUIREMENTS to start the PPL course (Private Pilot License):
Having completed compulsory school
Be at least 16 years of age to start, but 17 years to take the PPL practical exam;
Medical certificate of class 2 or higher issued by the Air Force Medical Legal Institute (ITALIAN);
REQUIREMENTS TO START THE theoretical ATPL COURSE:
Medical certificate of class 1 issued by the Air Force Medical Legal Institute (ITALIAN));
Be at least 18 years old;
High school diploma of any major (requirement imposed by the ATO CANTOR AIR).
The Private Pilot License (PPL) is the first flight license you can obtain to fly an airplane.
With this license you are authorized to fly for private purposes, i.e. without any form of payment for the pilot. The private pilot license does not require any previous aeronautical experience.
The CPL license is addressed to all those who wish to work for airlines as first officers, or in all existing work fields in the aerial market.
With the ATPL license you will be able to work as commander on multi-engine aircraft for public transport, therefore for commercial air transport activities.
To be able to work as a commercial pilot, you will need to obtain the CPL license with ATPL frozen. This license allows you to exercise all the duties of a PILOT in a commercial context, therefore you can carry out flight operations as a responsible pilot or co-pilot even for profit (Commercial Air Transport).
Since the school's first course, held in 2011, the recruitment rate of students who have completed the course has been 97%. A very high percentage that derives from an excellent preparation given by highly trained and chosen Flight and Theory Instructors chosen through a real selection, but also from the effectiveness of the program adopted, created specifically to provide EFFECTIVE and EFFICIENT training.
This in itself leads to training pilots with skills appreciated by airlines given the high preparation of students who leave CANTOR AIR.
In addition to this, the ATO boasts several PARTNERSHIPS with companies.
To maintain the quality that distinguishes CANTOR AIR, the school offers limited number courses.
In particular, the PPL and ATPL courses start twice a year, respectively in March and September (PPL) and May and November (ATPL).
Once the first course (PPL) has started after just 12 hours of flight, the Student Pilot is released SOLO (PIC). Obviously, this happens when the Student Pilot is deemed ELIGIBLE and above all compliant with the rules on SAFETY, the main area of the ATO for all ground and in-flight operations.
With the course proposed by CANTOR AIR, the student pilot after just 3-6 months from the start of the course, if he/she successfully passed the theoretical and practical exams, he/she will obtain the private pilot license (PPL). License that will allow him/her, upon his achievement, to bring passengers on board (friends, family, etc.) but not for work purposes.
All candidates who decide to start the path to become a PILOT, must look for a valid school that allows them, not only to the achievement of the necessary licenses and qualifications, but that allows them to obtain them through accurate training programs that do not aim only at REACHING those licenses/qualification, but also to the type of EDUCATION that must be aimed at creating QUALITY PILOTS who stand out for their SKILLS, for their PROFESSIONALISM, for their HIGH PREPARATION and above all for their ATTITUDE.
All features that CANTOR AIR students have and which are highly appreciated by airlines.

Cantor Air flight school fleet consists of 14 aircraft functional to the training of its students and a latest generation flight simulator: ALSIM ALX FNTP II.
All ATO Cantor Air students and technical staff can study, work and grow in the awareness of a safe environment. All this thanks to the maintenance and control of machines and aircraft that takes place according to the highest standards guaranteed by the intervention of its own maintenance: CANTOR AIR TECH. CANTOR AIR TECH represents a rapid and efficient apparatus that constantly intervenes on the ATO’s fleet, which in this way is always available for training according to a rigid and effective schedule.
ATO CANTOR AIR carries out the training at the Valbrembo Airport (LILV), in the province of Bergamo (ITALY).
Although the forecasts may be more altered than in areas where good weather always reigns, the students of the school are immediately, and deliberately, trained in different weather conditions (with all the minimum compliant with the legislation) allowing them to operate with maximum CAPACITY in case they should encounter unfavorable weather conditions.
This allows CANTOR AIR students to be fully trained PILOTS.
The pilots' language is represented by the international language: English. This makes it a very important requirement.
During the course, the student will also be subjected to the TEA EXAM (Test of English for Aviation), a mandatory requirement to proceed with certain phases of the flight.
To improve their level of English, CANTOR AIR has entered into a partnership with an English collage to which, enrolled students, will be able to access between the various training phases to support general and even aeronautical English courses.
TYPES OF MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS:
• 1 CLASS: The most complete medical examination, necessary to proceed with obtaining professional licenses such as ATPL, CPL ...
• 2 CLASS: A less stringent medical examination in terms of examinations, necessary to proceed with obtaining non-professional licenses (PPL ...)

The duration of the medical examination is very long as the exams could last even more than 4 hours.
There is a belief that you cannot become a professional Pilot if you wear glasses, but the reality is different. In fact, the pilot can fly the aircraft by relying on glasses or contact lenses as long as it falls within the parameters required by the legislation.
You can consult the requirements of the legislation currently in force here
